Here is a project I helped my friend out with. She wanted to finish her scrapbook page with embossed tire tracks and had the idea but didn't know how to emboss. She brought her son's toy monster truck to the shop, took off one tire and we ran it through an embossing pad. We used black embossing powder and a heat tool and created this fun effect! That was so much fun and what a great idea she had of using her son's truck tire as a stamp!

Bought one of Tim's Trinket or Cargo cases recently? We have sold tons of them lately and it's no surprise they are such a great case with a fun look. Check out what Bonnie did with hers to personalize it! I just love it! If you don't have one, we do still have some left so come pick one up and make it your own.

Fun Times with Scraporium

We have been so busy at the shop lately with so many fun events! If you have been in lately, you have probably seen us packing boxes, unpacking boxes, or glued to the phone trying to get last minute orders in.

January started our year off with one of popular All Day Crops. We had an amazing time as always and our next crop scheduled for April 28th is already almost full. We even had Kim, a photographer, generously offer to come take photos of the crop. Here are a few:

After the Crop, we packed up and set sail on The Jewel of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship. The scrapbooking Cruise was so much fun with tons of classes, celebrity teachers flown in from Utah, so much free product, and more. Here are a few photos from the Cruise (Captain Jack was there to see them off):

Now we are busy getting ready for the Treasure Hunt which starts next week! The totes are all ready for pick up, tags and pages are almost complete, goodies are being assembled, and we have skeletons on the wall. It's our favorite time of year and we hope you all plan to participate. Come pick up your tote at the shop and get your friends to join too, the more who join, the more can chip in for gas :) Don't forget to start the Treasure Hunt early with our Treasure Hunt kick-off this Saturday, February 25th from 11:00am - 4:00pm. You will learn fun new techniques and make great projects from some of our favorite teachers.

Water Situation at the Shop

If you have been in the shop in the last couple of weeks you have probably heard us talking about our water situation, it has been a stressful nightmare the last couple of weeks. Currently, we have no water in our building. If you have ever used our bathroom, you probably noticed we have a well. A few weeks ago it started acting up and we had people come out and replace the necessary parts, however, during the process it was noticed that there was no water. Our well dried up!

At this point, we need to put in county water but this will be $10,000 and up which is an awful lot for a small retail store. There seems to be no other options at this point. So we have no water and we are trying to figure something out to avoid these huge costs and also have water so that customers and class attendees may use the bathroom (not to mention the employees who have to keep running across the street to Publix).

The reason I am sharing all of this with you is because I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what we can do. One customer mentioned that her well was replaced for free because it was dug in the 80's (as was ours) and was dug too shallow (ours was too, only 25 feet) and this was not supposed to happen. We went in that direction but got nowhere. It was suggested that we contact the Health Department, Senator, Channel 8, and one customer even volunteered to hold signs in front of the shop to get attention. We just are not getting anywhere with the contacts and phone numbers we currently have.

I am hoping that someone reading this may know someone or have a suggestion for us. We are willing to try anything to avoid shelling out thousands of dollars that we don't have or could be used to purchase new products. CHA New Releases

Well CHA is over and all new products for Winter 2012 have been released. Some products have been ordered, some have already shipped, and some we just cannot wait until they are ready to ship! We didn't make it to the show this year but I have been looking at the Blogs, the videos, and hearing the stories and I am excited for our UPS man to start making his daily deliveries very soon. It's time for our Valentine's Day themed All Day Crop this Saturday, January 28th. If you weren't able to make it to this one, we will have another one in March so don't miss out! Also, feel free to stop by at River of Life Church to shop our vendors, sell your gold, or just say hi. Our gold buyer will be there from 11:00am -1:00pm so don't forget to bring your unwanted gold to sell!

If you will be attending the crop this Saturday, here are a few bits of info: Doors open at 9:00am for croppers and the crop ends at 6:00pm. Food will be provided throughout the day so come hungry. We'll have free make 'n takes, demos, door prizes, and more. Scraporium will have product to sell and we will also make a couple of store runs throughout the day so you will be able to buy product from us. We will be bringing lots of our new Christmas product so bring your Christmas photos to scrapbook and check out our great Christmas paper and more. Every day, we will be featuring the tag of the day from Tim's Blog. Bonnie will use her morning to construct the tag and Denise will gather all the supplies, tags will be ready for creating at 1:00pm each day. Bonnie will be there from 1:00pm - 3:00pm each day to help crafters construct their tag, explaining techniques and general assisting. You may make the tag later in the day or pick up a kit as well. I know lots of you have been following my pregnancy and proud Mimi (Denise) talks about it a lot so she made me promise I would post photos on the Blog as soon as she came. Well, after 41.5 weeks of gestation, Lailynne Patricia Hernandez is here! She was born Tuesday, October 18th at 10:31am. Our big girl weighed 10lbs 2oz and was 21.5 in long, she was a big girl! She was born at home with a midwife and everything went great! Audriella is being a great big sister and very helpful, only a little jealous :). Here are a few photos of our cutie:

Camp Gotta Crop

Denise wanted me to let you all know that registration for Camp Gotta Crop begins this Monday! If you are unfamiliar with this weekend Crop, let me fill you in. We have been attending this crop as vendors since the beginning and let me just say, this is the one I look forward to all year! The crop is run by the Salvation Army and held on their campgrounds in Starke, FL. The Crop begins on Thursday, February 16th - Sunday, February 19th and includes your room, food, snacks, cropping space (available 24 hours), classes, fun, prizes, and more. The cost for this is $175 with everything included. This crop does fill up very quickly every year so if you are interested, you will need to register this Monday, October 3rd in order to reserve your spot. Here's what you do:

Simply go to their website, www.tsafloridawomensministries.org click on the Cupcake icon which will lead you to the registration page. Registration begins at 10:00am Monday, October 3rd.

We are so excited to be having our very first craft show at Scraporium! The Craft Show will be held

Saturday, November 5th from 9:00am - 5:00pm.

We need vendors and registration begins immediately. Because of spacing issues, we will be limiting the amount of vendors so the first to sign up will get the spots. You will have the option of an indoor spot with included table or an outdoor spot and you must bring your own table(s). A vendor spot is only $25 and must be prepaid. So start getting your handmade craft items ready for sale, this will be a fantastic opportunity to sell to craft enthusiasts. Just keep in mind a few rules and suggestions for our Craft Show:

Due to overwhelming request, here are the recipes from your favorites at our last All Day Crop, enjoy!

Denise's Sweet Salad:

Lettuce Salad

add Stawberries, blueberries, or mandarin oranges

Dressing

1/2 c. sugar
1t. dried mustard
1t. salt
1/3 c. white vinegar
1/2 c. veg. oil/canola oil
1/2 c. olive oil
1T. poppy seeds
1/8 c.grated purple onion

mix & refrigerate

Barbara's White Chocolate Cheesecake Bars

Makes about 24 bars

2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sugar, divided
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 8oz. packages cream cheese, softened
3 large eggs
1 Tbsp. lemon zest
4 1oz. squares white chocolate, melted and cooled,
Optional garnish: Whipped cream, white chocolate shavings, lemon zest

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line 9x13 pan with heavy duty aluminum foil, overlapping the sides
In a medium bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar. Cut in butter until
mixture is crumbly.
Press into bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly
browned.

In another bowl, beat cream cheese and remaining 3/4 cup sugar until light
and creamy
Add eggs, 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
Stir in lemon zest and cooled, melted white chocolate
Pour over hot baked crust and bake for 35-38 minutes until center is set
Cool completely
Using foil as handles, remove from pan and cut into squares
Garnish as desired

Kim has been a great customer and wonderful help to the shop, doing demos, make 'n takes, designing, etc. She is a huge Tim Holtz fan and loves using unique and found objects in her work. She has several amazing classes coming up that you will not want to miss, we are especially fond of her Inspiration Block Class that she will be teaching in August and September. This is a beautiful Tim Holtz inspired shadow box full of techniques. She also has a card class once a month that is so much more than just cards, you will learn loads of techniques and walk away with cards so wonderful, you won't want to give them away. Kim was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. She moved to South Florida in 1997 to pursue her degree in Business Management. Kim has been crafting and collecting found objects since she was a little girl. Her passions are family, friends and all things art related. She also enjoys cooking, sewing and paper crafts. Her love for hunting found objects at flea markets and antique stores has inspired her to become interested in mixed-media and altered art. Denise Turns 50!

Since I am sure my mother will not be checking the Blog tonight and I wanted to post this last minute in case anyone did not see the e-mail. We're celebrating Denise's 50th Birthday at the shop tomorrow! Stop by if you get the chance, I know she's love to see you, here are all the details:

Our favorite scrapbook store owner, Denise is turning 50 and we want to celebrate! We would love for you to help us surprise Denise this Thursday with a little shop party. So here's the deal: Denise is normally off on Thursday but we have tricked her into working that morning even though it's her birthday but when she gets there, she'll soon find out that we're really having a little party for her with cupcakes and lemonade!

We would love for any of you who can stop by Thursday morning and just wish her a happy birthday, I know that she is friends with so many of you and this would definitely make her feel loved and appreciated. I am certain we can keep her there until at least noon or 1:00 and she may even stay later than that if there are lots of people coming by. So be sure to stop by Thursday morning or on your lunch break and wish her a Happy 50th Birthday!

We are also planning a little surprise for her in the morning when she opens. She thinks she is opening the store but really Barbara and I will be there early, we are going to park at Publix and leave the lights off so she thinks she is walking into an empty store so when she gets there we'll be able to yell "Surprise"! If you are interested in coming to surprise her, we'd love to have you, just make sure you are there by about 9:30 so we have plenty of time to hide and be ready. Remember, this is a surprise so do not mention it to Denise and No phone calls about it since she will probably be the one answering the phone. Summer Days Layout Loaded with Techniques - Saturday, July 23rd

Class Description:

Celebrate summer as we make a 2-page layout using the beautiful Yacht Club

papers from Websters Pages. We will cover a lot of techniques such as; creating a sewn title, making our own canvas tag, painted flowers, modifying pre-made flowers, making our own pocket and jounaling cards, working with glass glitter, and making our own flag. We will add a lot of fun textures to the layout and there will be lots of room for photos and journaling!

Summer Fun Layout with Accordian Fold Mini Album - Saturday, July 23rd

Class Description:

Create a fun and adorable single page layout using the cheery Little Girl papers from Echo Park. We will have lots of techniques in class such as; making our own embellishments, creating an accordion fold out page, faux stitching and more! There is room for a journaling, plus a variety of photos of different sizes.

Operation We R Grateful

We are excited to take part in We R Memory Keepers Operation We R Grateful this summer! This is a fantastic way to be creative and show a soldier how grateful you for their service. There are two ways you can help:

1. Make handmade cards at home for soldiers to send to their loved ones and drop them off at the shop by August 1st. Theme suggestions: Thinking of you, love, miss you, anniversary, thank you, birthday, get well, and major holidays. Remember, these are blank, handmade cards that soldiers will send to their families to keep in touch. They may include sentiments but cannot have glitter and must say "Operation Write Home" somewhere on the back.

2. Join us for our Make & Give Class on Thursday, July 14th from 11:00am - 4:00pm. We will have misc. supplies and blank cards set up for you to use to make cards for soldiers. Please bring any materials you would like to use and share (a great way to use up older product and scraps) and also be sure to bring basics such as scissors, paper cutter, and adhesive. Make it a social event and bring some friends so you can all make cards for soldiers. We will have refreshments for you while you work.

If you cannot make it on Thursday, July 14th, feel free to come another day and make cards in the shop. Any time we are open and do not have a class going on, you are welcome to come use some supplies and make cards to leave for the soldiers.

Once we receive all the cards by August 1st, we will send them in and the store with the most cards sent in will receive prizes to give out to their customers! So not only are you doing something nice for someone else, but you may even win a prize!

I am pretty excited about this new product! I happened to be at the shop when the box came so I took the very first journal and a few embellishments to play with. Unfortunately, some of it is on backorder but we did get all of the journals and tons of fun stuff to get you started, I am excited to play with mine!
